COUNSELLING, SUPERVISION, MENTORING and COURSES

The counselling process facilitates self-awareness, self-acceptance and the possibility of learning new ways of being in the world. I provide my clients - children, adolescents and adults - with a confidential and supportive environment in which to explore their inner world and their relationship to family, friends and colleagues.

My strengths are in:

  • building a relationship based on partnership, confidentiality and trust.
  • listening respectfully with non-judgemental compassion to my clients' stories.
  • believing that each person has the creative ability to find the best solutions to his or her difficulties that will enhance and enrich their lives.
  • seeking on-going feedback from clients to improve the counselling process.

Issues and concerns that I have assisted people with include:

  • mediation (Family Court)
  • loss and grief
  • stress, anxiety and depression
  • relationship difficulties, family dynamics
  • trust, intimacy, sexuality
  • self esteem and confidence
  • work related issues
  • parenting difficulties, behavioral problems
  • life transitions
  • anger and violence
  • communication and conflict resolution.

Supervision: I have a certificate in supervision, and have enjoyed providing this service to other counsellors, trainee counsellors, teachers and social workers since 1998.

Psychodrama and group-work: Psychodrama is an effective, enlivening, experiential method, that I use with individuals and groups. In psychodrama the drama of life is enacted, because 'action speaks louder than words'. It can be used as both a rehearsal and a preparation for living the kind of life you want to live. Experiencing psychodrama offers possibilities for change and human evolution, for individuals, groups and society.

Mentoring/Coaching: I provide individual and group mentoring to people in organisations and businesses. I have establised and run several businesses in my earlier working life and have founded and worked in several community organisations.

Funding for counselling: Funding can be accessed through a variety of means, including: oneself, WINZ, Nelson Bays PHO - doctor's referral, Relationships Aotearoa, Community based social service agencies such as the GB Community Workers and Motueka Family Service Centre.
